CEOs AI Guide- The five tech Trends for 2024

In my humble opinion, and all hype aside, next year will see five areas of tech gather pace exponentially, rather than break any boundaries. Although it could well break the mould systemically, these are exciting times.

As ever time is money, let’s cut to the chase………………

1. Generative AI’s creative explosion: Generative AI, capable of creating text, images, code, and even music, has already made waves in 2023. However, 2024 will see its full potential unleashed. From personalised design products to AI-powered writing platforms, the possibilities for creativity and innovation are endless.

Expect to see increased accessibility and user-friendly interfaces for generative AI tools, making them more mainstream and integrated into everyday life. Well prompted AI will replace ERPs as we know them in the next five years and they know it.

2. The immersive internet redefines reality: Augmented reality (AR) augments your surroundings by adding digital elements to a live view, often by using the camera on a smartphone while Virtual Reality (VR) is a completely immersive experience that replaces a real-life environment with a simulated one.

Beyond simple VR and AR headsets, the “immersive internet” aims to seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds. In 2024, advancements in haptic feedback, spatial audio, and brain-computer interfaces could blur the lines between virtual and real experiences. Imagine attending concerts virtually with realistic body sensations, collaborating on projects in shared 3D work spaces, or even undergoing virtual therapy with immersive simulations.

3. Green tech takes center stage: As climate change concerns intensify, expect a surge in sustainable technology solutions. This includes innovations in renewable energy sources, energy-efficient devices, and AI-powered smart grids for optimal energy management. Additionally, sustainable materials and processes will be adopted across various industries, aiming to reduce waste and environmental impact. Perhaps at the opposite end of the spectrum, and therefore low tech, my buzzterm for 24 is Regenerative Ag (or agriculture) because food is the elephant in the room.

4. Cybersecurity gets proactive with AI: With cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, AI-powered cybersecurity solutions will be crucial. Imagine self-learning systems that predict and prevent cyberattacks before they occur, or AI-driven threat intelligence gathering that proactively identifies vulnerabilities. 2024 could see a shift towards proactive cyber defense rather than reactive damage control.

5. Automation reshapes the workforce: Automation isn’t new, but its application will likely further expand in 2024. While this may raise concerns about job displacement, it’s also expected to create new opportunities. Automation will likely take over repetitive, manual tasks, while human skills like creativity, critical thinking, and communication will become increasingly valuable.

Expect to see a sharp increase in focus with regards reskilling and upskilling initiatives to prepare the workforce for the changing landscape. This will bring forward Central Bank Digital Currency, with the CBDC funding ‘Ubi’ (Universal basic income) to oil the wheels to a peaceful transition.

Inevitably this will add to the anti competitive polarisation already going on globally in almost every market. Who’d be a CEO? Everyone if they could, because in every challenge we see opportunity and that is why humanity will not just survive but thrive. Cheers! health and wealth for 24.
